IHSMGA Policy Statement

NEW MEMBERS

Application and Notice of Accceptance: When a member of Indian Hills submits his application to join the Indian Hills Senior Men's Golf Association, the SMGA Membership Chairman will check to insure the new member has an official Ghin handicap (see Handicap Requirement below) and initiate the process necessary to have our records and databases updated to properly handle requests for tee times and the recording of any winnings the new member may earn in any of our tournaments. Once this is done, the membership chairman will send an email to the new member notifying him of his acceptance to our organization. Upon receipt of this email, the new member is eligible to request a tee time to play with the group.

Handicap Requirement: The IHSMGA Board has established a policy that all new members must have a USGA approved Indian Hills GHIN handicap. If a new member does not have a GHIN handicap and wishes to play with the group, he will be allowed to play once without an established handicap. The team on which he plays will play as if they have three players and will get a blind draw upon completion of play to fill out their foursome.

To obtain a USGA handicap the new member must have one of the members in the pro shop put the member's name in the handicap system. Once in the system the pro will show the new member how to post his scores in the computer in the men's; locker room. Once the member posts five 18-hole scores the USGA will give him an 18-hole handicap and index. The GSGA issues USGA handicap revisions every four weeks. The schedule can be viewed on the web site. If the member, after posting 5 18-hole scores, wants to play with the group before the USGA publishes the revised handicaps, he must submit those five scores to the head pro who then will give him a trend handicap and index figure. This trend figure should then be submitted to the pairings chairman along with a request to play. If there are openings available the member will then be scheduled to play.

Annual Dues: Dues paid by New members before Sept. 1st, will have their dues applied for the current year. Dues paid by New Members on or after Sept. 1st, will have their dues applied for the remainder of the current year and for the entire following year. (Rev 8-26,2024)
